The Vlocity Network forms the foundation of the network. Client sites are typically connected to the Vlocity towers via a Multi-Point link. Typically the Maximum speed applied to a multipoint link is between 1 and 2 megabits depending on the number of existing clients on the Multipoint sector.
The type of Link here is Localised to the Vlocity network in an Area. This does not include VPN Links that move from one region to another. A separate link between regions is required to link Client sites that are not on the same Vlocity Segment.
If a client is linking multiple branches to one central site (e.g.Head Office), the client chooses the speed required at the head office. If the client chooses a speed the same as that of its branches, the client then is typically charing or contending the head office link. This is used typically where the client has the capability to manage their own links from the branches and in order to reduce costs, provide their own contention.
Typical applications of this are off-site archiving, where the client schedules archives times differently on each client, thereby controlling the maximum speed through the Head Office Link. If the client requires the maximum link speed from each branch at all times, then the Head office links need to be Multiples of the client links. this is specified by the client. In a typical scenario, unless a separate estimate has been provided, all links will be configured as contended links.
